Gold Coast Youth Football League
The L.A. City Ducks Youth Football Club is a proud member of the Gold Coast Youth Football League (GCYFL). The GCYFL has smartly developed new age and weight divisions that took effect in 2010 and was just reconfigured for the 2015 season. This updated matrix further improves the safety environment for all players and provides a better opportunity for more children to participate in tackle football regardless of size or experience. Most importantly, the GCYFL has a separate developmental division (American Conference) specifically created for new, smaller and less advanced players.
The GCYFL Age & Weight Committee just completed a thorough examination of player registration data from recent seasons. With more children gravitating to one or two sports at a younger age, a change was due. The Committee analyzed factual data to determine trends in participation and division placement based on a player’s age (maturity), weight & skill-set. The Committee identified specific areas where players were being under served and/or were at a disadvantage due their placement. Based on their findings, the committee presented options to the league that effectively groups players into the most appropriate division to insure a safer and more equitable playing environment. The league has 20 chapters. Also, the GCYFL is recognized locally as having the best football fields. Most of our chapters play on state-of-the-art field turf and all games must have working scoreboards. Statistics prove that most youth football injuries occur on sub-par fields. In addition, all GCYFL chapters are required to be certified with USA Football and the Heads-Up program.
Based on our extensive research, we believe the GCYFL is the best and safest league in Southern California. That's why we are here!
WHERE DO YOU WANT YOUR CHILD TO PLAY TACKLE FOOTBALL?
Analysis of the updated GCYFL age & weight matrix compared to
OCJAAF, AAU, PYFL, SCFYFL (Flo League), Pop Warner & the Snoop League.
Gold Coast Youth Football League
Senior Division
13 years old up to 170 lbs. (X-player unlimited)
14 years old up to 160 lbs. (X-player unlimited)
PYFL Youth Football League
Senior Division
13 years old up to 190 lbs. (X-player unlimited)
14 years old up to 190 lbs. (X-player unlimited)
SCFYFL (Flo League)
13u-14u Division
13 & 14 year olds - UNLIMITED weight
Another very unsafe age & weight matrix. AAU claims not to have older/lighter's, but they actually have older/heavier's, which is much worse!!! A 200 lb. 14 year could be tackling a 100lb. 13 year old and/or vice-versa. There is no division in the AAU or Snoop for the small 13 or 14 year old's to play.
AAU & Snoop League
13u-14u Division

SoCal Pop Warner
13u-14u Varsity Division
13 & 14 year olds - UNLIMITED weight
Another very unsafe age & weight matrix. AAU claims not to have older/lighter's, but they actually have older/heavier's, which is much worse!!! IT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE, THE GCYFL HAS CREATED
THE MOST ADVANCED AGE & WEIGHT MATRIX NATIONWIDE. ONE BIG RUNNING BACK OR BIG QUARTERBACK CANNOT TAKEOVER A GAME IN THE GCYFL LIKE THEY DO IN THE OTHER LEAGUES. OUR CONFERENCE IS DESIGNED FOR 99% OF ALL YOUTH. NOT THE RARE 1%. FOOTBALL IS A TEAM SPORT AND IT SHOULD REMAIN THAT WAY!
DO NOT ALLOW YOUR CHILD TO PLAY IN AN UNLIMITED WEIGHT LEAGUE!
